How Do I Generate Video for YouTube?

YouTube is built for widescreen (16:9) video. In Kreator, the fastest way to get YouTube-ready footage is to generate a Video Clip in 16:9, then download it or publish directly to your channel.

What counts as YouTube-ready?

A video exported in 16:9 widescreen — the standard shape for YouTube uploads, thumbnails, and the watch page. Kreator labels this Widescreen (16:9) in its aspect ratio pickers.

Steps

1. Open Generate Video Clip

You have two easy paths:

  • Click the Create button in the left sidebar (the + button), then choose Video Clip.
  • Or open Assets, click the generate menu, and choose Video Clip.

You'll land on the Generate Video Clip page with the generation form on the left and your results on the right.

2. Pick a model and add references (optional)

  • Open the Model dropdown and choose a video model that fits your clip length and style.
  • Optionally attach a reference image or start frame if you want the video to follow a specific product photo or visual.

3. Set Widescreen (16:9) for YouTube

In the settings row at the bottom of the form:

  1. Open the Aspect ratio dropdown and choose Widescreen (16:9).
  2. Set Duration to the clip length you need (options depend on the model you picked).
  3. Set Resolution to your preferred quality.

4. Generate and download

Click Generate Video Clip at the bottom of the form. The button shows the credit cost for the run.

When the clip finishes, it appears in the results panel on the right. Click it to open the gallery view, then download it — or send it to the Video Editor if you want to trim, add captions, or combine clips before uploading.

How do I know it worked?

You'll know your YouTube video is ready when:

  • The generated clip plays back in 16:9 widescreen (not vertical or square).
  • You can download the file from your Assets library.

Troubleshooting

I don't see Widescreen (16:9) in the aspect ratio dropdown. Not every model supports every ratio. Switch to a different video model, or generate in the closest supported ratio and use Reframe to crop to 16:9 afterward.

The video looks vertical or square. Confirm Widescreen (16:9) was selected before clicking generate. The aspect ratio is locked once the clip is created — re-run with 16:9 selected

My clip is too short for a full YouTube video. Generate several 16:9 clips and combine them in the Video Editor, or use the UGC-Style Video workflow for a longer scripted piece.
